DevLog #7 - Quack Quack!


Quack Quack Motherquacker!

While Mr. Raccoon is the hunted, these menacing Ducklings are the Hunters! You better watch out or they will quack right at ya!

Des...truction? Destruction? DESTRUCTION!

Once again, we've been improving how destruction feels, and it sure as hell feels satisfying! Why not have a look?

Note: It's a pretty large GIF, have patience!

A few things you can notice

Better cops!

The cops chase you around corners without getting stuck now. They waddle so adorable... but don't be tricked though! They will come and get you!

A.... Caught bar?

Yep! You got it. You get an indication how close you are to getting caught. You better keep running! The rate decreases... but very very... VERY slowly!

Decay, but why?

Sorry sweety, but we got to keep that FPS up and at least it fades out!

Get caught... or Escape!

We've finally implemented the getting caught or escaping feature. You can now escape by the Getaway vehicle (which is still a block, unfortunately) or get caught. Once all players have been caught or have escaped, the game ends.

A new start!

We've rewritten the start completely to make it as good as possible.

A start screen! (Oh nooo...)

It's..... TIME TO..... DESTROY!!!

Your friends haven't joined yet? Don't worry! There's enough time for you all to get in!

Technical improvements

We've tried figuring out what caused heavy FPS drops even in the previous build. Luckily it was found after heavy profiling and it was caused by a bug! Fixing that and changing a few things made the game run 2x better! Isn't that great?

Some other features:

  • Off-screen detection
  • Replaced stunning with knockback
  • Cop death wall
  • Adding extra particles

That's it for this week!

We will be adding a Pause Menu and the End Screen by next week as well as finally adding sound, you gotta hear some Quacks!

We will be improving the art very soon to finally let it feel like a "complete" game that just needs polish.
